Target "Salsify Prove"

GOAL: Demonstrate that salsify can be grown in a fountain system and still yield a caloric power of 6.9 or better.

Explanation

In theory, salsify should be a rock star crop of the Calorie Fountain system, but I don't know that it's field grown stats will hold up under Fountain conditions. This target will either prove them true and provide a first approximation of the necessary growing system; or prove them false and provide us with updated metrics for the crop table.

Deliverables

  • a new caloric power rating for salsify
  • a design for a preliminary salsify growing system
  • an estimate of lifecycle water needs per plant

Anti-deliverables

There are some things we will eventually want to know but are beyond the scope of this initial target:

  • determine which species is optimal
  • determine optimal spacing
  • determine optimal water needs
  • determine optimal nutrient mix
  • determine optimal growing method

Success conditions

  • measured caloric power ≥ 6.9
